Mark Rober shows an automatic bullseye dartboard that tracks a thrown dart with motion capture and moves in real time so it always hits the center. He spent over three years on the project.

HN calls it a great, impressive engineering project involving real-time trajectory calculation.

The actual video is by Mark Rober and man you gotta check out his YouTube channel [1]. I've been in a technical slump here recently and watching his videos totally re-energized me. He reminded me how great it feels to explore, build, and solve problems. Another great video is his automatic bulls eye dartboard [2]. [1] [LINK] [2] [VIDEO]

This is an an awesome project... the kinda stuff I wish I had more time to hack away at... In the video he mentions his automatic bullseye dartboard project... even more impressive than this glitter machine IMHO: [VIDEO] Calculating a projectile's trajectory in realtime.... wouldn't even know where to start. EDIT: dartboard code from that youtube link: [LINK]

Mark Rober (who is linked elsewhere in this thread for a dart board that does the same this as this backboard, but with active compensation) also did a video on how carnival games are rigged.
