Interestingly, this has been the approach of a dietary study being conducted by a group doing research on a circadian-focused pattern of eating. The study uses a mobile app as part of their distributed clinical trial design. Participants take pictures of their food with only the option of further journaling. Kind of cool. Here's the website for the trial (& app)... [LINK] Here's a video of the principal investigator (Satchin Panda) talking about his research... [VIDEO]

The issue with Ramadan is that they eat at night. It is indeed intermittent fasting, but it is not as good as intermittent fasting where you eat during the day, because eating is related to peripheral oscillators of our circadian rhythm. I heard about that a few weeks ago while listening to this podcast by Dr. Rhonda Patrick: [LINK] This article might also be of interest: [LINK] As well as this video interview: [VIDEO]

The reason you feel sick is because you're body isn't used to the shift from carbohydrates for energy and ketones as energy (body fat). You get brain fog because only fat in the form of ketones can cross the blood brain barrier. So adaptation to ketones are vital. You need to work into it. No different from exercise, or climate adaptation. Having cold showers shifts your body into using ketones more and more. Regarding not eating breakfast, watch these videos from FoundMyFitness: Dr. Satchin Panda on Time-Restricted Feeding and Its Effects on Obesity, Muscle Mass and Heart Health [VIDEO] Ruth Patterson, Ph.D. on Time-Restricted Eating in Humans & Breast Cancer Prevention [LINK] Time restricted eating, AKA your 16/8, is VERY important. Even if you don't immediately notice changes. Those changes could begin to occur 2 to 8 years later. Depending on adherence. Also based on Dr. Ruth Patterson's advice, skipping breakfast leads to eating late into the night, which is not good for your health generally.

I'm on a day 4 of a water-only fast and have completed a two-week medically supervised fast as well as many other shorter fast. As an anecdote, I can say water-only fasting in combination with a high nutrient density plant-based diet has helped me overcome some serious allergies and other health conditions. As an added bonus, I've lost 65 pounds from my peak weight over the last few years and my weight has been stable. It's not a panacea, but I've found it to be a net benefit.
