A long video essay examining the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, with footage and commentary on the neo-Nazi participants. It draws on rally footage, VICE News, and the Hunton & Williams report.

Referenced as evidence of the Nazi iconography and chants at the rally, in arguments over how to characterize it.

> It hasn't lost meaning with me, when I read "alt-right" I read "racist trolls" It's stronger than simply "trolls". "Alt-right" is just the latest PR rebranding used by neo-nazis/white-supremacists. Obviously, generalizations about any group of people is problematic; trolls and other not-explicitly-neo-nazi people use the label "alt-right".. Those people might want to consider that if you hang out with neo-nazis and repeat their memes/trolls, people might start to assume you are a neo-nazi . If someone likes to spend time in hang out with ${sport} fans, uses slang associated with ${sport_team}, most people are going to assume they are fan of that sport even if they claim* otherwise. I suspect a lot of people might think I'm misinformed because someone in the "alt-right" said they were not nazis, and would never support racial violence. Remember that neo-nazis lie . Is your opinion abased on their public PR-focused interviews? If you have any doubt whatsoever that these are neo-nazis dreaming of bringing back the holocaust, I suggest watching this[1] video at 41:12, which is footage from a popular "alt-right" discord stream inside the Charllottesville rally. In their own words: Speaker: Did Hitler do anything wrong? Audience: [loud "no"] Speaker: One more, I want everybody to repeat after me.., ,,,this is the first precept of the true alt-right: Gas the [slur]s, race war now! Audience: [even louder cheering] [1] [VIDEO]

You're missing the context that the people attending the Unite the Right rally heavily displayed Nazi iconography (swastikas and more obscure neo-Nazi symbols): [VIDEO] If you're okay with marching alongside a swastika, are you really a "very fine person?" As Shaun puts it, "the acceptable number of swastikas at the rally is zero." Another excerpt ( [VIDEO] ): Speaker: "Did Hitler do anything wrong?" Crowd: "No!" Speaker: "I love my people!" Crowd: "I love my people!" Speaker: "One more, one more. I want everyone to repeat after me, pay close attention because this is the first precept of the true alt-right. Remember it. Gas the [slur]s, race war now!" Crowd: "Gas the [slur]s, race war now!" "Sieg Heil!" "Sieg Heil!" "Who brought the ovens?" "[Laughter]" Do these people, or anyone who associates with them, seem like "very fine people?"

The Brexit Party was just a face-saving rebrand for UKIP. It didn't take long for the mask to start slipping, with the party's founder resigning after retweeting racist posts from far-right figures. Of course, Farage himself may denounce such things: > I set the party up, she was the administrator that got it set up. ( [LINK] ) Which is an interesting contrast to his remarks when the party was being formed: > This was Catherine's idea entirely - but she has done this with my full knowledge and my full support. ( [LINK] ) Friendly reminder that it's very easy, and very common, for racists to disavow their racism when it's expedient to do so (e.g. an extreme example [VIDEO] )
