A Gource visualization of 826 days of Minecraft development, from alpha 1.2 to release 1.5, condensed into eight minutes. Each dot is a file, folders are links, and developers fly around zapping files as they work on them.
Shared as the canonical example of visualizing a real project's version control history with Gource.

For those that like things like this, check out [LINK] - it's desktop only, but produces awesome visualizations. It works by going through your git history and essentially shows programmers buzzing around the code and updating files. It can do generic avatars, or even download their gravatar if they have one. A lot of videos online, but two great ones are: * The History of Python [VIDEO] * 800+ days of Minecraft in 8 minutes [VIDEO]
Notch released a video of the Minecraft development history, that's when I first heard of Gource: [VIDEO]
I discovered Gource back in 2013 when Minecraft released an animation of their first 800+ days of dev: [VIDEO]
