A one-minute Steve Summers clip of Willy Wonka saying no, don't, stop. It is a reaction meme.
HN uses it only as a joke when someone is about to do something ill-advised, such as microservices.

The alternative is the Willy Wonka mindset. You tell them the right thing to do and half heartedly say "No... stop... don't"[0] as they go with the plan that is presented in a manner more conducive to their ego and feelings. If I wanted to go through the song and dance of buttering everyone up so they will do what I say, why bother coming up with a good idea as well? I'd just say the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, that might be why the ideas that get acted upon tend to be so bad. What's the point of the quality of the idea has no impact in it's odds for adoption? [0] [VIDEO]
I tried that for a while but now my reviews are basically: "No, stop, don't." [VIDEO] It's like I'm talking to children, they think I'm just old and stuck in my ways and that I just don't understand. Eventually my prediction comes true but none of them have ever said anything, they just go implement what I suggested and act like they solved the world's greatest mystery. I guess it's easy to forget my comments from months earlier, it's almost as if I've seen their code before and know how it ends.
> There was a comment in this thread criticizing Kiwi Farms, but it was quickly removed. It always surprises me that Hacker News of all places tends to defend Kiwi Farms. The place basically exists for the purposes of doxxing and organizing targeted harassment. Supposedly they have rules against it, but they're enforced with the same energy as Willy Wonka telling people not to do things ( [VIDEO] ).
