Louis has a video on such efforts by apple albeit in different area however also "small bussienss" initiative. [VIDEO]
AFAIK Louis Rossmann has criticized Apple for creating a really unpractical program, calling it "virtually worthless": [VIDEO] Or is there a more recent video where he changes his mind?
Of course, the pricing is meant to disincentivise you from doing it. Apple is doing the exact same ( [VIDEO] ). They don't want to enable DIY repair but they do this because they have to in some areas. I assume this is also the reason they won't just sell you a battery without a screen.
