The business card scene from the film American Psycho, in which executives compare increasingly refined business cards with escalating envy. It is a two-minute clip of a classic dark comedy moment.
Used as a joke reference for obsessing over trivial details like card design, fonts and CV templates.

This thread is reminding me a bit too much of the business card scene from American Psycho: [VIDEO] but uh, nice CV's guys.
I don't think that's an accurate analogy. It doesn't matter what your digital cables are made of, so long as noise doesn't go above the threshold. Cheap copier paper, on the other hand, looks and feels like crap. The only reason you print stuff on paper is to communicate with another human being, and the paper is part of the message. I wouldn't quite go as far as the business cards scene in American Psycho ( [VIDEO] ) though.
I think this kind of obsession (about things that don't matter) was best portrayed in American Psycho's business card scene: [VIDEO]
The point being, if it takes 3x magnification and careful examination (after having been coached) to spot any difference, it's hardly worth worrying over, let alone admonishing use of one over the other. It just becomes another case of [VIDEO]
[VIDEO] I can't think of a single time where I closed or did not close a deal on the basis of business cards, as a freelancer. Whether they were nice or I forgot them at home.
