A short video built around Douglas Crockford, creator of JSON, saying JavaScript is a flawed language and that developers should eventually move on from it. It is a brief commentary clip with little technical detail.
HN users cite it to show that even Crockford, once a JavaScript evangelist, has soured on the language, though some find it thin on substance.

Can't we move on from JS for the backend? It is a brittle and confusing langugage. Author of JS the good parts: [VIDEO]
It's too late for me. I, like Douglas Crockford, am completely done with JavaScript [1]. HTMX, LiveView, WASM, Dart, ClojureScript, Kotlin, ScalaJS, Dioxus -- There are lots of options folks. We don't need to surrender to the tyranny of JavaScript. [1] [VIDEO]
Lua has something similar called metatables [1]. I don't think crockford likes JS anymore [2] and seems to be hacking on C now [3]. [1]: [LINK] [2]: [VIDEO] [3]: [LINK]
Reddit thread on “Why We Should Stop Using JavaScript According to Douglas Crockford (Inventor of JSON)” (2023, video 2’15”) [VIDEO] He doesn’t really say much other than it could be better if we used “clean” operating systems and “clean” programming languages, whatever that means.
