Sam Altman: The nature of programming will change a lot. Maybe some people will program entirely in natural language. from min 1:29:55 — Sam Altman & Lex Fridman’s new interview, incl questions about AGI [VIDEO] I agree but there will likely be demand for experts to help direct AI to create a better solution than otherwise and even write pseudocode and math formulas sometimes. The key is for the expert to understand the user’s needs better than AI by itself and ideally better than the user themselves. Many/most software engineers could act more like art directors rather than artists, or conductors instead of musicians.
"I would heavily discourage any start-up that was thinking about starting as a non-profit and adding a for-profit arm later. I would discourage them from doing that. I don't think we'll set a precedent here." [VIDEO]
It's the time for OpenAI to set a new bar with GPT-5 then. For reference, it's been more than a year since they released GPT-4 and Sam was indicating that the leap from GPT-4 to GPT-5 is going to be similar to how people felt GPT-3 -> GPT-4 here: [VIDEO]
On the other side he said, the "next Copy of Google Search" would be boring. So let's see what they try to make differently [VIDEO]
He ends his essay with "Fuck Google for ranking some copycat website higher than mine, even though they copied my article", but how is it not OpenAI, Anthropic etc. as well as Google, to blame. We're meant to believe that with their resources they couldn't have created a micro-payment scheme to compensate creators? Altman on Fridman podcast two years ago about compensation... [VIDEO]
