A short clip, apparently the opening scene of the TV series The Newsroom, in which a character answers why America is not the greatest country in the world. It is a brief political monologue.
Cited as a quick reference to that Newsroom monologue when a thread touches on American decline.

leading the free world? you really mean US is some leader of free world? in what filed exactly? living standard, healthcare, education, internet, etc? because I fail to see pretty much any positive field in which US would be world leader. [VIDEO]
Don't make a bomb joke in a US airport either! They weren't comparing the US to China, they were explaining the flaws with American democracy/judiciary/media. The US is not a shining beacon to be held up in those categories compared to eg New Zealand/Germany (proportional representation), Denmark (judicial independence - the US doesn't crack the top ten[1]), or most of the rest of the West (see how far you have to scroll in press freedom rankings to find the US [2] - they have very weak media ownership rules, and while the media is free from a lot of govt limitations, it's free to be biased and partisan as hell) Or just watch the opening from the Newsroom. > It's the most powerful nation on earth and runs laps around everyone else combined on pretty much every metric. Guess you're talking about number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending? :-) [VIDEO]
