DIY Perks shows how to modify devices that use older USB connectors so they charge and connect over USB Type-C. He solders in a USB-C connector board and works through cases such as dongle-dependent gadgets and a mouse receiver.
Commenters cite it as a well-made, practical example of USB-C conversion when they discuss hacking USB-C into devices.

Guessing I have the same beard trimmer as you, with a micro-USB port. It's great for travel but sucks to have to carry around an extra cable now. I'm thinking of trying to convert it to USB-C, similar to what this guy did: [VIDEO]
> Mice, keyboards and printers have been wireless for ages. Doesn't necessarily mean they use USB-C though. Logitech's Unifying receivers are still (sadly) reliant upon USB-A, although someone modified one of them to use USB-C instead[0] :-) [0]: [VIDEO]
I appreciate your example of a USB NIC, as I am familiar with both USB A and USB C versions of those. I was specifically envisioning devices with female ports, but out of convenience and convention, most peripherals have a built-in/permanment male-terminated cord. Can you think of any examples with a female port? One of my favorite YouTube creators, DIY Perks, made a video about converting USB connectors to USB C which is very well done, as is their usual standard of quality. [VIDEO]
DIY Perks had a similar problem (USB-A mouse dongle; laptop with only USB-C) he decided to fiddle with the dongle and change it's port instead: [VIDEO]
