> * Robots do not act cruelly unless specifically instructed. Well, sure, but have you used computers recently? It's often a fucking awful experience and while the computer clearly isn't trying to make your life frustrating that's often the result. PC LOAD LETTER [LINK] [VIDEO] Do we really want the people who make printers to make autonomous killing machines?
> There's an internally famous video inside Google in which a particular well-known machine was unracked, dragged out into a field I really hope the video is edited to strongly resemble this scene: [VIDEO]
"There's an internally famous video inside Google in which a particular well-known machine was unracked, dragged out into a field, and ceremonially smashed to pieces by some hardware techs..." Are you perhaps thinking of the printer execution scene from "Office Space"? [VIDEO]
Office Space is from 1999, so people under 35 had little chance to watch it when it came out. It is a classic for those in the know, but not like Big Lebowski in the sense that everyone is talking about. To our young people in IT: Watch "Office Space"! It is still hilarious and you may find it easier to recognize some more or less subtle repferences (for example to red staplers, tps reports etc.). Also, it features some solid rap songs by Scarface, Geto Boys etc.. Edit: Here is the printer scene [VIDEO]
Narrator: But most of all, I remember The Desk Warrior. The man we called "Max." To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time... when the world was powered by the green rectangles... and the desert sprouted great towers of carpet and fluorescents. Gone now... swept away. Lagniappe: [VIDEO]
