A four-minute Onion Talks parody in which a social media consultant pitches never putting any effort into social marketing. It lampoons TED-style talks and marketing consultants.
HN commenters recommend it as the Onion Talks parody most relevant to tech and startup culture.

I think the social media Onion talk ( [VIDEO] ) is the most relevant to HN (and my favourite). You are definitely not the only one who's BS detector was going off. I find that TED has about the same number of good talks per year as it used to. And about 10 times more talks per year than it used to. That's not even counting the cesspool that TEDx has become.
If you haven't seen them, make sure to check out The Onion's TED parodies - Onion Talks: [LINK] They may be the funniest thing The Onion has ever done. =================================== Edit: of particular interest to the HN crowd would be their takedown of the "Idea Guy": [LINK] and the "Social Media Consultant": [VIDEO]
This reminds me of the Onion Talks episode, "Using Social Media To Cover For Lack Of Original Thought"[0]. [0]: [VIDEO]
This one is a masterpiece: [VIDEO] To survive in the new internet economy, you need to come up with a new service or product that people will want. Not likely, right? Using your brain to think of an idea, and your skills to implement it: Thats the old model.
