What about this example? 'Driving For Uber, Sleeping In Her Car' (VICE News): [VIDEO] > The existence of thousands of uber drivers -- who in my experience, have all been quite reasonable, nice people -- seem to directly contradict your claim that it does not pay a 'reasonable wage'. Clearly, it does for those invested parties. Maybe we can leave it up to the academic researchers and labor rights organizations? Why do you make a claim and link to no sources, please could you provide your sources? Here are some sources I found: [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] > Why is the purpose of a wage to live on? This isn't a serious question is it?
This will just cause a deepening of the Digital and Information Feudalism that is already going on. It will result in a violent revolution by the working classes, to throw off these chains, and to democratize the use and application of the underlying technologies used by Uber et al. I am sad that American citizens are subjected to these experiments by American billionaires. They are systemically dehumanized, exploited and pushed to their limits. [1] Why do people still stand behind copyrights and patents, in this age of zero-marginal cost reproduction and transmission of information? [2] [1] [VIDEO] [2] [LINK]
> Uber really shines in countries with a culture of haggling and gouging tourists. > It’s the ultimate travel “screw remover”. So why do you think this is? Are you aware that western capitalist firms fuck/screw these countries up, before their citizens fuck (with) us? [1] [2] Their dishonesty is based on having to survive to survive this original (and ongoing) exploitation. Do you really look at the global south and not see this? I'm not saying Uber doesn't help serve as an attempt at a digital system that helps sustain reputation (although it is one that can grossly exploit the driver). [3] [1] [LINK] [2] [LINK] [3] [VIDEO]
> Pushing people out on the streets due to eye watering rents also literally drives people insane. I've seen handful of YouTube videos interviewing homeless people that were pushed out due to high prices and none of them seem the drug-addict pee-on-the-starbucks-floor type. I've seen videos about homeless camps that self-regulate drug free zones for non-addicts. - [LINK] - [VIDEO] Definitely a sad situation, but functional people seem to try to continue to be functional. Hard worker being evicted for rent and resorting to drug use sounds like a nice narrative, but it feels fictional. Do you have any sources on people being evicted b/c of rent issues and becoming insane?
