Terry Davis, author of TempleOS, demonstrates his SimStructure physics simulator and builds a PID controller using math from Numerical Recipes in C. The description notes PID controllers are used in everything from rockets to espresso machines.
HN links it with timestamps as an early, hands-on demo of control theory and as a curiosity from Davis's work.

Not sure why this has to be AI specific.. Terry Davis was doing this 15+ years ago: [VIDEO] Seems to be more of an issue of knowing calculus and control system patterns.
Heh, I haven't seen or read NR but added it to my wishlist after watching Terry Davis mention it [at 8:15] [VIDEO] Seemed to work well enough for him.
I assume it's this video ("Terry Davis Demos SimStructure (2016-08-25)"): [VIDEO] He starts talking about PID controllers at around 3:40.
